2Timezones - A second invitation from Jeanrichard
In conjunction with the presentation of the new design of its sports line, Jeanrichard is unveiling its latest GMT “2TimeZones” model. This dual time-zone watch is the first model in the sports line to be equipped with the JR1000 movement produced in the Jeanrichard workshops.
Merging several different genres and shapes, the appearance of this contemporary timepiece is a clever blend of rugged sturdiness and innate elegance. The case with its beautifully sculpted, contrasting lines subtly conceals the movement with its complications, making this watch suitable for wear on any occasion. Indeed, this distinctive and stylised timepiece will shine just as brightly in a luxurious environment as when experiencing some of life’s most intense moments. Combining horological expertise and pure design, this “2TimeZones” model is further proof of the Manufacture-level competence of the Jeanrichard brand.
Intended for travellers and people who cultivate contacts around the world, the “2TimeZones” by JEANRICHARD offers a clear and original display of the second time zone. The first time zone indicating local time is shown in a classic way with central hour, minute and seconds hands. Meanwhile, an aperture at 12 o’clock displays the time in the second time zone with an AM/PM indication to avoid any confusion. A second aperture at 6 o’clock shows one of the 24 reference cities for the various time zones.
Two crowns at 3 and 9 o’clock accentuate the originality of this model. The first, a screw-locked crown, serves to wind the watch, correct the date and set the time. The city indication is modified using the second crown at 9 o’clock. A dedicated mechanism has been developed to make it possible to adjust the hour hand separately from the movement as a whole, simply by pressing the two pushers along the left-hand side of the case. This system can move the hour hand forwards or backwards independently to enable rapid adjustment of the local time zone.
Fitted with a sapphire crystal case-back revealing the mechanical intricacies and the refined decoration of the proprietary movement, this model featuring a case clothed in steel, rubber on the bezel and PVD on the button pushers, comes with a slate grey dial structured by a checkerboard motif and is water-resistant to 100 metres.
Instant modification of hour hand position, independently of the rest of the functions
Fast hour adjustment is achieved by means of a combined hour wheel and pinion serving to dissociate the two functions: either continuous display of the hour, or fast selection of any hour in local time which advances in one-hour increments. This wheel is composed of four parts: a lower plate permanently driven by the motion work; an upper plate driven by the correction-reverser intermediate wheel when the function is selected; a jumper-spring connected to the lower plate; and a central tube bearing the hour hand and connected to the upper plate. The latter features twelve notches. When the watch is running normally, all components of the combined hour wheel are in a state of synchronised rotation.
When the user presses one or other of the pushers, he activates one of the two correction levers which pivots on its axis, causing its flexible beak to drive the correcting wheel. By pivoting, the latter transmits its motion to the adjustment-reverser intermediate wheel, which makes the upper plate turn by an angle exactly equivalent to 30°. The hour jumper-spring, connected to the lower plate, ensures this rotation by means of the notches in the upper plate.
For added security, when the user activates one of the two pushers, the mechanism blocks the second corrector in order to avoid any inadvertent handling that might damage the system.
