Fairmont St Andrews

Following a £13.5m refurbishment in June 2008, Fairmont St Andrews, part of the luxury international Fairmont hotel group, is the place to be this summer.

The five-star hotel, which is set on Scotland’s stunning Fife coastline overlooking the historic town of St Andrews, has recently unveiled 115 new luxury bedrooms and 17 exclusive suites with the much-anticipated new Fairmont Spa, a destination spa offering Kerstin Florian treatments.

Set in the heart of the home of golf, the spectacular hotel, which has 209 bedrooms and two four-bedroom Manor Homes in the grounds, has brought the earthy tones of the surrounding countryside into its new interiors. Spacious rooms overlooking the North Sea and pristine fairways of the golf courses are furnished with a new twist on the tweed and tartan theme, while the suites have elegant finishes including cashmere throws and designer sofas, again combining tradition with contemporary styling. The new suites also have uniquely-styled sitting and dining rooms with personal butler and chef services available.

Chic sophistication is also reflected throughout the spa experience, which, when it opens in mid-June, will be the only Fairmont Spa in the UK. Special touches bring the local landscape and character into the spa’s interiors with pebble floors, contemporary driftwood sculptures and fabrics reflecting the surrounding countryside. Stylish daybeds allow guests to linger and there is a private three-room suite, ‘a spa within a spa’, for intimate groups who want to share the experience. There is also a dedicated pedicure and manicure suite, a couple’s room where two people can enjoy treatments by side by side, and a room exclusively for men’s treatments. The Fairmont Spa treatments immerse guests in the romance of the coastal location, with a broad range of locally-themed massage, facial and relaxation therapies. It is also one of the few spas in the UK to feature Kerstin Florian treatments. For those seeking a more vigorous experience, comprehensive leisure facilities include a swimming pool, 28-piece fitness suite with personal tvs, and studios for yoga and spinning.

Charles Head, general manager of Fairmont St Andrews, said:

“We are delighted with the results of these activities and we are looking forward to offering guests a new and unparalleled experience of Fairmont St Andrews. We have taken care with every aspect of the guest experience to ensure that we remain one of the ultimate places to stay in Scotland.”

Set in 520 acres of breathtaking coastline, Fairmont St Andrews offers an all-round experience with two world-championship golf courses as well as the destination spa and opportunities for walking, riding and cycling close by. The hotel also has a wide choice of bars and restaurants, including the fine dining restaurant, Esperante and the Clubhouse which has sensational views out to sea and over to St Andrews. For those seeking the ultimate weekend break, the hotel has its own private helipad and arrival by helicopter can be arranged from Scotland’s major airports.
