An English Summer

The DAKS Spring Summer collection takes inspiration from an English summer. Evoking memories past and present of spring weekend walks along pebble beaches and relaxing summer holidays spent lazing in the sand. The four key stories; Whistable, Colonial, Sandown and Kew gardens all retain elements of this, combined with essences of Britain’s colonial heritage past.

Colours are predominantly neutral, reflecting the theme of golden sands and the hazy summer sun. Warm tones of shell pink, mink and white are mixed with stronger shades of red, stone and Willow blue. Fashion colours of cerise pink and lime add highlights to the palette.

This season the collection takes on a younger more contemporary feel with the emphasis being on soft fabrics and feminine styles. References are taken from key silhouette trends seen on the international catwalks including layering, pleating and volume. Fabrics have a light softer handle with an emphasis on natural and rustic fabrics. Linen and cotton blends are combined with wools and silks to beautiful effect. The DAKS House Check is reworked in a graphic print, and recoloured to work as a key feature within each story.

Dresses take inspiration from the DAKS luxury collection, with influences such as gathered necklines and pintuck detailing conveying a subtle synergy between the two ranges. Floral and House Check prints feature heavily on dresses and skirts with a maxi length dress in bold graphic House Check being a key piece for the season. Embellished empire line dresses are teamed with soft round neck duster coats to convey a more romantic feel.
