Autumn sees the debut Jaeger Black collection for menswear. A top-end line, Jaeger Black is a distinguished affair, split between sophisticated, formal daywear and elegant dress wear.

With an emphasis on construction comes a strong defined silhouette, while attention to
luxurious detail results in clothes that are considered and comfortable.

Inspired by the opulence of Oscar Wilde – a great enthusiast of Jaeger’s clothing during the late 19th century – Jaeger Black is a contemporary collection aimed at men whose wardrobes demand classic clothing realised in the finest modern yet luxurious fabrics, such as fine wools, cashmere and silk.

The collection revolves around tailoring, including a jacket featuring traditional hand-finished padded lapels, real horn buttons and a deep airline pocket to carry documents. A cigaretterolled shoulder makes for a more exaggerated look, while the use of traditional tailoring techniques allows for the incorporation of a chest hammer pleat to enhance the silhouette of the chest.

Sleeves are finished individually in-store and a name and date label inside the jacket can be personalised. Similarly, the trousers, which have a pleated curtain waistband and feature a vsplit at the back for greater movement, are finished upon purchase. Trousers also boast functional aspects such as a coin pocket and brace buttons.

Day lounge suits include both single and double breasted styles, with optional waistcoat, in a dark brooding palette of predominantly grey and black, crafted in mixes of rich wools and lustrous silks. A two-button jacket and a hand-stitched, double breasted black overcoat are both crafted from the purest cashmere. Evening dress highlights includes a decadent, onebutton claret red velvet jacket with satin shawl collar and a beautiful dinner suit in very fine wool/silk cloth.

Jaeger Black shirting also splits into day and dress categories with higher collar stands
(spread and point styles), gathered cuffs, gussets and a squared-off hem throughout. Made from Italian cottons, Jaeger signatures such as monochrome stripes and micro puppytooth appear alongside discreet claret stripes for day. A herringbone pleat bib front with functioning tab is a standout piece for night. Dress shirts come with a distinctive satin tape on the cuff.

Handmade in England, Jaeger Black ties have been cut to provide a longer and fuller knot to balance with the shirt’s collar shape. Discreet patterns and plain styles are available in monochromes and reds. Fine cashmere and silk roll necks, designed to be worn with tailoring,finish off the Jaeger Black wardrobe to perfection.
